Prior to the main workshop of the day, several topics were discussed by Mr. Cyril Jose Ignacio who is an accredited trainer of the Department of Tourism (DOT) for several programs such as the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) and other various engagements.
From evaluating the different identified tourism sites ranging from existing or with potential for development during the first day to identifying the problems that exist within Catbalogan City in relation to tourism and cultural development, it was emphasized that before any plans to be formulated, problems must be identified and accepted for it to be addressed and assets to be harnessed.
Moreover, the participants had to identify the possible solutions to address these problems and how these solutions can be measured in terms of success indicators. This was part of the process in engaging with the different stakeholders in order for them to be able to identify the challenges faced not just by their respective sectors and industries but the entirety of Catbalogan City relative to cultural heritage and tourism development.
Led by City Mayor Dexter Uy through the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO), all these processes are geared towards the development of the Comprehensive Tourism and Cultural Heritage Master Development Plan for Catbalogan City (CTCHMDP) carrying #KahusayKatbalogan for the tourism development agenda and #KulturaKatbalogan for the cultural heritage development agenda.
โ€˜Kahusay’ referring to the beauty of natural and man-made tourism sites, and ‘kultura’ referring to the rich cultural heritage of the city respectively anchored on the branding as “The City of Captivating Contrasts” or simply #CaptivatingCatbalogan.
